A highly desirable holiday destination, the town successively attracts a great deal of tourists especially during summer. Its proximity to the Ionian Sea makes up the core of the attraction.
The village can be easily reached from the other cities surrounding it. As other Sicilian areas, the village has an economy based on agriculture and fish products. Citrus fruit, grain, vegetables, grapes, almonds, olives, anchovies, sardines, swordfish, squids, they all are important parts of the local agricultural subsidies.
Its name is a compound due to the existence of two other communes that carry the same one. Prior to 1948, the commune was reined by De Angelicas, Romano Colonnas, Furnaros, and Paternò Castellos. After 1948, the village gained the ability to enjoy independence, at least administratively.
The legacy of the past has a well-preserved uniqueness which justifies the yearly touristic flux. The castle’s past was created by multiple dominations such as Arab and Norman (during this period the edifice received major modifications). Also, Charles V (1500- 1558) was sheltered inside the castle. Subsequently, quarrels between the French and the Spanish contributed to the transformation into the local provision storehouse.
In present, the castle displays structures, elements, adornments that partially succeed in recreating the breath of times of long ago. Outside the castle, another world awaits. The Ionian Sea continuously invites travelers into its clear-blue water.
